COLLEGE FEES:

A student is required to pay the following amount at the time of admission (For Bangladeshi students)

Caution money is refundable on completion of course after deduction of loss or breakage by the student or any other outstanding dues from him.

Fees are not refundable except the caution money as noted above. The rates of the fees are subject to change from time to time without any prior notice.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR STUDENTS (COLLEGE RULES):

    1.   All students are to carry their “IDENTITY CARDS” when in the college.

    2.   All students are to attend classes in clean well pressed white apron with their name plate on the left front side of the apron.

    3.   Fashionable dresses, cosmetics, untidy hair, slippers are discouraged in the college campus.

    4.   Rings, Bangles are impediments in the practical classes.

    5.   Environment is to be kept near and tidy.

    6.   Pasting of posters, graffiti’s on the walls of the college and hospital building and/or hanging posters in the college and in the hospital premises are prohibited. These are considered as acts of indiscipline and the student will be liable to punishment.

    7.   Closing of college and hospital gates or doors of college hospital departments creating obstacles to the normal functioning of the college and the hospital are acts of gross indiscipline and students involved in such acts are liable to be expelled from the college.

    8.   All types of demonstrations, processions, shoutings in the college and hospital premises are prohibited and students involved in them are liable to be expelled from the college.

    9.   Abstentions from classes individually or in a group or in a mass without prior information/valid reasons are punishable by imposition of daily fine of Tk. 100.00 individually. Guardians will be informed of such acts of their wards.

 10.   The students will state their problems/grievances/inconveniences to their guide teacher. The guide teacher will try to solve the problem locally, or failing to do so, will refer the problem to the academic council.

 11.   The students must not misbehave with the staffs or employees of the college and hospital. Acts of misbehavior are also acts of indiscipline and liable to call for punishment.

 12.   The students are expected to maintain the highest standard in their academic and private life. Losing of moral and spiritual values or addiction in alcohol and narcotic drugs are punishable.

 13.   On admission into the college the students’ parents/guardians will have to sign an undertaking that their ward will abide by the rules and regulations of the college. Any violation of the college rules and disciplines are liable to punishment or even cancellation of their studentship. The decision of the academic council is final.

 14.   Every student shall provide for himself/herself all the prescribed text books, dissecting instruments, medical equipments etc. The college will not supply these to the students.

 15.   LEAVE: In case of illness or any other unavoidable reasons of non attendance a written statement from the parents/guardians is to be presented to the teachers concerned, who in turn will submit it to the Principal for approval.

 16.   Cost of loss/damage to college/hospital property is liable to be realized from the student.

 17.   Political activities are not permitted in the campus.

 18.   The student must inform the college authority the current mailing address of his/her parents/guardians.

 

COLLEGE DISCIPLINE:

Students must observe strict discipline in the college. On disciplinary grounds the following penalties may be imposed on a student (depending on the gravity of offence).

 

1.       A warning

2.       Fines (will be decided on ones offense).

3.       Expulsion from the college (Temporary depending or permanent on the gravity of offense).

 

Penalty/penalties imposed on a student will be recorded in his/her transcript/testimonial.

 

Students name may be removed from college register under the following circumstances:

1.       Remaining absent from the class for more than three months without any valid information.

2.       On disciplinary ground (on the advice of the Academic council).

3.       On non-payment of college dues within three months of due date of payment.

 

RE ADMISSION:

If a student name is removed from college register due to nonpayment of dues he/she may be re-admitted provided the student pays the full arrear dues and fine of Tk. 7500.00 within 3 (three) months of removing the name.

If a student remains absent for more than three months but less than twelve months he/she may be re-admitted on recommendation of Academic Council on full payment of arrear dues plus fine of Tk. 10000.00. However, if a student remains absent for more than twelve months he/she will not be admitted into the college except on special permission from the Academic Council.

TEACHING METHODS:

The medium of teaching is English.

Teaching will be imparted to the students through lectures, demonstrations, tutorials, ward clinics, practical classes and field visits. Periodic clinical meetings, seminars will be held on specific topics.

   

STUDENTS ASSESSMENTS:

Students assessments will be made through periodic class examinations (written, oral and practical, card completion and clinical examinations.)

 

Promotion from 1st year to 2nd year and from 3rd year to 4th year class:

Student will be required to –

1.       Possess 75% attendance in classes.

2.       Secure 50% marks in aggregate in the periodic examinations.

3.       Satisfactory behavior and conduct certificate from the Head of the department concerned.

4.       Satisfactory results in annual examination.

 

Promotion from 2nd year to 3rd year and from 4th year to 5th year:

Through University examinations.

MBBS degrees will be awarded by Shahjalal University of Science and Technology, Sylhet, passing all the subjects of final year (i.e. at the successful end of 5th year).

 

INTERNSHIP  

The students are to undergo one year internship training after qualifying MBBS examination as per regulation of Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council (BMDC).

BIOCHEMISTRY:

Note: There will be three terms (18 weeks of each).

 

COMMUNITY MEDICINE:      

In pre-clinical year there will be 30 theoretical lectures, tutorial 40 hours, and day visit 10 days. Continuous evaluations through card completion examination for all. Satisfactory report from the departmental head of community medicine is a prerequisite for sitting in the 1st professional MBBS examination.

 


PERIODIC EVALUATION:

Evaluation is a continuous process of assessment through card completion examination, periodic examination, OSCE, OSPE.

 

SUMMATIVE EVALUATION:   

After 1st study period there will be an university examination namely 1st professional MBBS examination. The students must pass all term examination before appearing the 1st professional examination.

·         Pass Marks will be 60% in each written, Oral & practical/Clinical exam, Separately.

 

Marks and pattern of questions in written examination in each subject will be as follows -

 

1.       10% Marks of written examination of each paper of each subject is allocated for formative assessment.

2.        20 % Marks are allocated for MCQ for each paper. There will be separate Answer script for MCQ examination. Time allocation is 1 (one) minute for each question consisting of 5 stems (20 question)

3.       70 % Marks are allocated for SAQ (Except in com. medicine) for each paper

4.       Oral part of the examination will be structured oral.
